I watched the Daytona 500 yesterday, as well as the dual races, practices, and qualifying. 🏁 My favorite driver (Chase Elliott) was close to winning and then he crashed, which was disappointing. He did win the second dual race though. I also watched the documentary “We Lost Dale Earnhardt: 25 Years Later” that premiered after the duals. It made me emotional. I remember I started watching races in the late 90’s and watching him on TV. I’ll be honest though, I was more of a Jeff Gordon fan. 😊
I found this old photo of a Jeff Gordon cake my mom got me for my birthday in 1999 🎂 I remember I wore a Jeff Gordon shirt in high school and this boy in my class would tease me because he was a Dale Earnhardt fan and hated Jeff Gordon. I liked Dale, but not as much as I liked Jeff Gordon. 🙃
I still haven’t been to race, but I really want to go to one. I just don’t know how I would do it because I don’t live very close to a track and all the costs involved like travel, I don’t know if I could. I hope to be able to go someday. 🤞
Have to admit I’m not that big on the Daytona 500, I usually start watching casually as hubby turns it on. HOWEVER, by the end I’m weirdly invested in who wins, just like how my dad ends up joining me when I watch my crazy reality shows haha. Also, it feels like one of those events that’s perfect for a lazy day, just turning it on, relaxing, and checking in whenever something dramatic happens.
