I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes several years ago (I don’t remember exactly when, bad memory). I’m currently taking medications for it because I don’t need insulin (at least not yet). My doctor told me to check it once a day and write it down. I bought a blood sugar log book on Amazon for a reasonable price and am writing it there. Every morning when I wake up, I check it.🩸I’ve never liked needles and blood, but I had to get used to it. I also had to deal with it when taking care of my dad with diabetes. My A1C was really high before, I think it was around 9. I had bloodwork done early this week and it was 7. It’s better, but could be better than that. The hardest thing for me is trying not to eat and drink things I shouldn’t. I’ve always loved Coca-Cola🥤and have been drinking it since I was a kid. I have been drinking more water and Coke Zero Sugar and have cut out candy🍬 and frozen desserts.🍦 It sucks when you’re really craving that stuff. Now I wish I didn’t drink all that soda as a kid because that’s probably what caused it. This is my reality now and I have to accept it and try to do what I can and hopefully cut more stuff out.

This is such an honest and relatable post. Going from an A1C of 9 to 7 is real progress, and the lifestyle changes you’re making—especially cutting back on soda and sweets—aren’t easy. Wishing you continued strength and steady improvements as you keep taking it one day at a time.
